May I present to you a very blurry (due to our sauna conditions) photo of the graduating class of our 2016 Four-Day Seminar. OK, well they didn't actually graduate from anything, but it sure felt like it today!
It is rare for us to experience a group of people like this who are willing and ready to learn from the moment that we start. It usually takes a day or two for us to bond with the audience and get through the cultural barriers of understanding and learning. Not with these men.
Never was the last time anyone has every come here to invest in their lives and teach them how to read & study the Bible.
We worked through several passages of Scripture where they used new methods to determine for themselves exactly what the Bible was saying, and then what truth they learned from the passage.
Then comes the most challenging part - application! The are good at telling others what to do, they are pastors. But our challenge was for them to look for ways they can change.
"What is the easy way to application?"
"Just tell us what we need to know for application."
"This is just too hard to do."
Four days later, their eyes have been opened and they are committed. They understand the challenge, but more importantly, they understood the need to change themselves. And I believe they will!
INTERESTING FACT:
We were told that they all have about 4 sermons that they keep preaching over and over again. And they are always topical messages. Can you imagine??
Wade gave them a step-by-step process how to take what we learned and then turn it into a sermon.
Thank you to everyone who made this trip happen. You can expect eternal results will come through these fine men as they now return to the different corners of Myanmar where they will pass on what they have learned. We learned that their people really fight change so we need you to pray for them to believe in their leadership calling and do what is best for their people.
Tomorrow, we will have a cultural day and finally be able to visit Joel's orphanage before heading off to Nepal.
Let's talk tomorrow! Jeff
