Taking care of kids is tiring. Taking care of almost 20 is exhausting. One of the great privileges of being an "uncle" is that you get to come in and live outside the normal rules and kids will like you better. And I am not about buying their love.
Lake Victoria is a giant lake that boarders much of southern Uganda and it is close to Kirabo Seeds. So today we packed them all up and headed to the Botanical Gardens which is a protected area with large open areas, huge Ugandan trees and the beach.
After a time of singing and a quick devotion we were off to the beach to swim.
I brought along some balloons and they all played and played and played.
We had to drag them out of the water, but their reward was a BBQ feast of chicken, pork, cabbage salad, chipatis and cokes. Then they brought out the soccer balls we brought them. And no it is not snowing . . . those are little harmless gnat-like bugs that would fly up when you walked over the grass.
As the food coma started to set in, I was taken back with several of the staff while most of the kids ventured back into the water.
I was told this was one of the highlights of the year for them. It was a great day!
